Rope grab rails
- Screw ¼" x 2-½"L screw eyes 18" apart through exterior plywood and into interior framing studs.
- Run ⅝" twisted nylon anchor line through the screw eyes on both sides of the shack. Stop knots at each end on both sides.
POB ladder
- 1 or more 5' sections of sturdy fiberglass (Home Depot, Werner, etc) ladder.
- Hang ladder sections on quick release hardware mounted on start shack exterior.
- Lag screw sturdy ladder mounts in multiple locations around the outside faces of the platform to enable quick deployment of ladders to any set of ladder mounts.
- Sturdy hardware should enable 200 lb.+ POB and/or rescue swimmers to safely climb from the water onto the platform.
- When RC consists of one person, preemptive deployment of a POB ladder should be required (think dinghy vests).
More
- Loose floatation for emergency debris field (foam swim noodles, foam cushions)
- LIfe rings, rescue rope
- Floating rescue mat
- Lifesling
- Hoist and fairleads mounted on the upper platform to avoid friction and halyard chafing described in US Sailing report.
- First-aid supplies, emergency blankets, etc. (think ski patrol toboggans).
- POB retrieval procedures and training (think ski patrol, life guard protocols).
